Valve Drivers
HED’s pulse width modulated (PWM) and solenoid Valve Drivers are pre-engineered, modularized electronic printed circuit boards that serve as power amplifiers to drive proportional valves, motor, pumps, or any device that requires PWM signals.
Function
The valve drivers operate by processing a low power analog input signal to produce a corresponding high power, high efficiency PWM output signal, as required.
These PWM signals consist of pulses created by switching between zero voltage and the full supply voltage, within a pre-determined cycle time. The percent of time that supply voltage is furnished during each pulse cycle varies proportionally to the input signal, thereby creating a modulated, proportional signal as its output.
HED Valve Drivers are available in two basic configurations:
- Single Direction of Control (Half Axis Controller): Converts a single analog signal to a PWM output. Ex: Controlling a hydraulic dump valve.
- Bi-Directional Control (Single Axis Controller): Provides two complimentary outputs (either PWM or Solenoid On/Off) from one analog input. Ex: Controlling a valve to operate a double-acting cylinder.
